Willis Avenue Bridge

Nordholm Rentals equipment and expertise was critical to the successful transport and installation of the Willis Avenue Bridge in NYC.

The Willis Ave Bridge was built in Coeymans, New York, just outside Albany, and floated down the Hudson River. It’s a swing span bridge and its final location is in the center of Harlem. The General Contractor was Kiewit. We were involved in the Naval architecture, load out, sea fastenings and the final jack down into position. We also advised on the marine operational aspects of the bridge installation, with crane weights of about 3000 tons.

National Geographic Lindbald Vessell Launch

The selected launch skid method, has been applied safely, and successfully on Nordholm’s past projects using the same equipment, similar techniques and launch personnel experienced in moving large heavy structures. This method of skidding a vessel or structure from the construction site, down the ramp to the launch position provides for a very stable, precise and controlled process.

Boyer Crane Move

On an accelerated schedule, the crane and support tub for a 1,000 ton barge derrick were moved from an aging and deteriorated 55-year-old barge to a much newer 400 x 100 x 25 ft barge in excellent condition. The derrick had been recently updated and certified, and with its relocation onto the new barge, is now set for many more decades of use.
